Nine Canadian Municipalities Recognized With Awards of Excellence

Nine Canadian municipalities have won national awards of excellence from the Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA). The awards were presented in the areas of innovation, environmental leadership & sustainability, inspiring workplaces, and collaboration during an Awards of Excellence Ceremony held as part of CAMA’s national conference in Whistler, BC.

Winning efforts included a multi-use community centre, an asset management project, a net-zero ready Fire Rescue Station, a modern and compliant waste service system, an agglomeration biomethanization centre, a people strategy and plan, an employee recognition and appreciation framework, an integrated municipal / provincial service centre, and a regional approach to cycling paths.

“On behalf of the CAMA Board of Directors, I am pleased to recognize the excellence being demonstrated by local governments across the country with these projects,” said Brenda Orchard, CAMA President, CAMA Representative for Ontario, and Chief Administrative Officer for Lennox and Addington County, ON. “It is truly satisfying to see how communities are making improvements to support their residents and staff.”

The following municipalities and projects were recognized, in four categories:

2026 CAMA Willis Award for Innovation

2026 CAMA Environmental Leadership & Sustainability Award

2026 CAMA Municipal Inspiring Workplace Award

2026 CAMA Collaboration Award

“The Awards committee was amazed by the ingenuity being demonstrated by communities from across the country when it comes to programs, projects and services being offered at the local level,” said Tracy Thomas, Awards Chair and CAMA Board Representative for NWT, YT and Nunavut. “Congratulations to the winners and all those who took the time to enter a submission.”
