CAMA Welcomes Nunavut Municipal Administrators Through New Partnership

NAM Partnership

The Canadian Association of Municipal Administrators (CAMA) is proud to announce a new partnership with the Nunavut Association of Municipalities (NAM) that brings 100% membership representation from Nunavut within CAMA.

During a recent NAM Board of Directors meeting, the Board unanimously approved a motion to cover the first-year CAMA membership fees for all Nunavut communities that were not yet members. This important initiative reflects NAM’s commitment to supporting the professional growth, collaboration, and leadership of municipal administrators across the territory. This milestone strengthens the connection between Nunavut’s municipal administrators and their peers across Canada, providing access to national professional development and mentorship opportunities, CAMA’s extensive library of resources and toolkits, a supportive network of municipal professionals from coast to coast to coast, and a unified voice in shaping the future of local government leadership in Canada.

“This partnership truly represents the spirit of collaboration that CAMA values,” said Brenda Orchard, CAMA President and CAO of the County of Lennox & Addington, Ontario. “We’re delighted to welcome Nunavut’s municipal administrators into our national network and to ensure they have the same opportunities for learning, connection, and support as colleagues across the country.”

“As the CAMA Representative for the North representing Northwest Territories, Yukon Territory and Nunavut, I’m incredibly proud to see Nunavut achieve full representation within our Association,” said Tracy Thomas, Senior Administrative Officer for the Town of Fort Smith, Northwest Territories. “This partnership reinforces the strength and unity of Northern leadership and opens the door for every Hamlet to benefit from shared knowledge and national collaboration.”

“This initiative reflects NAM’s belief in the power of connection and shared learning,” said Solomon Awa, President of the Nunavut Association of Municipalities. “By joining CAMA, our communities gain a stronger voice on the national stage and greater access to the tools and networks that help municipal leaders thrive. It’s an exciting step forward for Nunavut’s municipalities.”

CAMA celebrates this historic milestone as another step toward ensuring that municipal administrators in every corner of Canada are supported, connected, and represented through a strong national network.
