Useful resources and support are available for municipal workplace learning and literacy.

CAMA provides both personal support and resource materials. We have set up the Municipal Learning Resource Network as the connecting point where municipalities and agencies interested in municipal workplace learning can find the people and learning resources to assist them. Resources from the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE)

CUPE provides personal and resource support through its Literacy Working Group. CUPE offers workplace education workshops, publications for certification requirements, programming, advocacy, and partnership agreements as well as online resources and news from the Literacy Working Group. The National Adult Literacy Database (NALD) is the primary access point for all literacy resources in Canada. On NALD’s website you will find
§ local literacy organizations in each province and territory. Search to find your local literacy organization for arranging partnerships, tutoring, and other literacy activities.
§ a literacy collection – Search for NALD’s collection of online books and resource materials for literacy and ESL instruction, clear communication, software packages and more.

Other useful resources for workplace learning

Resources in your community

The most common education providers for workplace learning and literacy are community colleges, school boards, labour education centres, education consultants and local literacy organizations in your province or territory. Independent educators or consultants can usually facilitate meetings, carry out organizational needs assessments and evaluations, and teach on-site.
