Representative for Newfoundland & Labrador
Rodney Cumby has enjoyed a lengthy career in Municipal Government, starting in 1998, as the Town Clerk and Manager, in his native Pouch Cove. Rodney has held the Chief Administrative Officer roles in both the Town of Torbay, the Town of Portugal Cove/St. Phillips and most recently with the Town of Paradise.
While employed with the Town of Paradise, Rodney was proactive in implementing the many changes that become necessary with managing a fast paced municipality. He oversaw the town’s $30 million annual budget, as well as a $20 million capital budget and led the Town to receive four Torngat Awards in Municipal Awareness, Innovation, and Regional Co- Operation. Most recent achievements include the completion of a double ice surface arena and the installation of Newfoundland’s first roundabout.
For fifteen years Rodney has been an Executive Member of Newfoundland’s Association of Municipal Administrators (Professional Municipal Administrators), which include four years as President. He is a member of the TRIO Pension and Benefit Board, which provides pension and benefit options to Municipal Employees in Newfoundland and Labrador. He is also a past board member of the Municipal Assessment Agency.
Rodney holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Memorial University and resides in Paradise with his wife Leslie and three sons, Aaron, David, and Michael.
